Ethanol is taking flight. The Vanguard Squadron, an aerobatic four-ship demonstration team, is being fueled by ethanol and creating awareness at the same time. The Vanguard Squadron has been showcasing ethanol as a performance fuel since they began flying together in 1993. Ethanol added power to the Squadron's aircraft without making major engine modifications. The team has over 3,000 flight hours on 100% ethanol. The Squadron share their love for flying and raising ethanol awareness by performing in air shows. Also, they do fly-bys for events such as ethanol plant openings and ground breaking ceremonies. The Squadron flies 10-15 air shows/events each year. Flying across the country promoting ethanol and educating people about ethanol has introduced the Squadron to many people interested in alternative fuel solutions.
